Susan Sarkauskas started work at the Daily Herald in 1990 as a copy editor on the Neighbor desk; was an assistant city editor in the DuPage County bureau; then returned to the Neighbor production staff as the Daily Herald expanded into Elgin and Tri-Cities areas.
Responsibilities included editing copy, designing pages and, for several years, writing features about local houses of worship. In 2007, she became a reporter for the Tri-Cities, North Aurora and Kaneland areas. Before coming to the Daily Herald, Sarkauskas worked for several years for the Suburban LIFE Graphic newspaper as a reporter. Sarkauskas grew up in Woodridge, and now calls Batavia home. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. In her spare time, Sarkauskas has served on the governing council for her church, and was co-director for 10 years of its vacation Bible school. For several years, she was an advisory member of the board of a parochial school.
