DuPage Senior Citizens Council receives $12,000 Community Impact Grant from DuPage Foundation
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council in Lombard recently received a $12,000 grant through DuPage Foundation’s Community Impact grant program to help support social engagement programs for local seniors.
The DuPage Foundation awarded nearly $940,000 to 52 DuPage County not-for-profit organizations. Thanks to additional donations from DuPage Foundation’s donors and donor-advisors, the foundation was able to grant $480,000 above its regular Community Impact grant budget.
The senior citizen’s council’s mission is to initiate, deliver, monitor, and coordinate various services that allow seniors to live their lives in dignity. In 2023, the council delivered 521,000 meals and provided 327,000 well-being checks, serving approximately 7,000 seniors.
“Our social engagement program is one of the fastest-growing programs needed by seniors in DuPage County,” said Executive Director Marylin Krolak. “We are so grateful to receive this grant to continue to provide seniors with this and other much-needed services.”
“We are proud to share that 83% of eligible grant applications submitted this spring were funded,” said Barb Szczepaniak, DuPage Foundation vice president for programs. “These funds will amplify the impact of individual giving and strengthen the social fabric of our community.”
During DuPage Foundation’s spring grant cycle each year, local not-for-profits, serving DuPage County in areas of health and human services, are awarded funding that supports programs and projects that improve and enrich the quality of life for DuPage County residents.
Grant applications in the areas of education, environment, and animal welfare are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. The 2024 grant guidelines are posted at dupagefoundation.org/grants/community-impact.html.
