MCC to induct former athletes into Hall of Fame
The McHenry County College Athletics Department will host a Hall of Fame induction on Tuesday, Feb. 4. The ceremony will take place between the women's basketball game and men's basketball game at approximately 7 p.m.
The 2020 induction class includes four former student-athletes.
"We are proud to honor this year's inductees, to share their accomplishments and contributions to MCC, and to thank them for being part of our Scot family," said MCC's director of athletics Karen Wiley. "We have amazing individuals to shine the spotlight upon."
Nick Badgley
Honorees include Nick Badgley, an outstanding baseball player for MCC from 2005-07. The McHenry East High School graduate was the first baseball player to earn NJCAA First Team All-American honors.
In the 2005-06 season, he earned 2nd Team ISCC All-Conference honors and 2nd Team All-Region 4 honors. During the 2006-07 season, he earned 1st Team ISCC All-Conference and 1st Team Region 4 honors and served as team captain.
In his final season, he hit .455 with five home runs, 35 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases.
Nick graduated from MCC with his associate degree, moving on to attend and play baseball at Northern Illinois University for two years, graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in history.
Nick was also inducted into the prestigious NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame this winter. He is employed with PepsiCo and resides in McHenry.
Jenn Koeser
Also inducted this year is Jenn Koeser, a three-sport athlete playing on the volleyball, women's basketball, and softball teams from 1999-01.
The Woodstock High School grad was part of several ISCC Conference Championship teams, including the 1999 and 2001 women's basketball champs and 2001 softball champs. She was named to the 2000 Volleyball ISCC All-Conference and Region 4 team. She was also named to the 1999 and 2001 Softball ISCC All-Conference and All-Region 4 teams.
Jenn garnered softball team MVP honors for the 2000-01 season, leading the conference and region in RBIs (40) and home runs. During the 2001 season, Jenn earned First Team All-Region 4 honors.
Jenn graduated from MCC and was named the Academic Student-Athlete of the Year in 2000-01. She went on to attend and play softball at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, earning her bachelor's degree in sport and fitness management, wellness and coaching certificate.
In 2008, Jenn continued her educational journey at Northern Illinois University. She attained her teaching certificate in physical education and master's degree in curriculum and pedagogy. She teaches and coaches at Woodstock High School.
Zach Marszal
Hall of Fame honoree Zach Marszal was an exceptional baseball player for MCC 2013-15. As a freshman, the Cary-Grove High School grad was 4th in the nation in batting average at .467, First Team All ISCC All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region 4.
His sophomore season saw the team with a 44-13 record, ranked No. 16 nationally, 14th in the nation in RBIs (65). He was named to 1st Team ISCC All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region 4, Region 4 Player of the Year, and NJCAA 3rd Team All-American.
He graduated from MCC with NJCAA Academic All-American status, and went on to attend and play baseball at North Carolina Central University. He completed his bachelor's degree at Illinois State University and is currently in the Chicago area working as a software engineer.
Amanda Omar
The ceremony also honors Amanda Omar, an excellent volleyball player from 1996-97 and coach of the MCC women's volleyball team for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
As a player, Amanda earned First Team ISCC All-Conference, All-Region 4 First Team and NJCAA All-American status. Amanda went on to play and graduate at Missouri State University.
After college, she played professionally in Puerto Rico from 2001-02 and in Finland from 2007-09. As a coach at MCC, Amanda's team won the 2005 Regional title and she was named the DII District B Coach of the Year.
Amanda also went on to coach successful seasons at Phoenix College and Chandler-Gilbert College in Arizona. This winter, Amanda was also inducted into the Rockford East High School Hall of Fame and the Region 4 Hall of Fame. She resides in Arizona.
The McHenry County College Athletics Hall of Fame was instituted in 2004. It honors teams, student-athletes, coaches, administrators and community members and volunteers who have demonstrated a high degree of success, significant contributions, or meaningful service to MCC athletic programs.

Each inductee and their immediate family is invited to attend the induction ceremony Feb. 4 to receive a Hall of Fame plaque. They will also be honored with a plaque on the Athletic Hall of Fame wall outside of the gym and recognized on the MCC Athletic Hall of Fame page on the athletic department's website.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is open to the public.
