Montini Catholic fine art students showcase talent at annual spring art show and concert
Montini Catholic Fine Art students entertained parents, friends and art fans for the last time this school year at their annual Spring Art Show and Concert.
It was a bittersweet evening for senior band and choir members as they performed for the last time on the Montini stage, on Monday, May 6 in the college preparatory high school's auditorium.
The concert directed by Donnie Glowinski, included performances by the A Cafellas and Treble Makers groups, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Combined Bands.
“I really had a great time working with all our students for the spring concert, especially our seniors,” said Glowinski, who directs three concerts each year at Montini in addition to directing the orchestra for the annual spring musical. “They started high school, in the thick of COVID, when making music was considered a ‘risky’ activity. They persevered through that difficult time and have turned into some wonderful young people and musicians. There will be a big hole left behind by them.”
Under Glowinski's leadership (beginning in Fall 2019), Montini's music program has flourished. His passion for performance and dedication to making the concert experience for the students a memorable one is very apparent.
“This was one of my favorite concerts that we have put on. The music that each group performed tailored well to their talents and skill levels. All the groups did a marvelous job and really conveyed the beauty of the music. This was one of the highlights of my year!”
Prior to the show, guests were invited to check out Montini's annual art show exhibit featuring the works of art, digital art and photography students. The show was organized by teachers Stephanie Kuecker and Christiana Blatchley.
Art enthusiasts browsed the corridor and were treated to refreshments hosted by Montini's Parent Club.
“Our Student Art Show is the visual culmination of artworks that celebrate the unique talents of our students,” Blatchley said. “It is great to watch students navigating displays to share their works with family and friends. Stephanie (Kuecker) and I are happy to present the wide range of artworks the students have made. The MCHS artists make us all proud!”
