Eagle Scout Mason Wang Day

Mason Wang was awarded the coveted rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, April 7. The ceremony took place at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Hoffman Estates, the sponsoring organization for BSA Troop 399.

Eagle candidates are required to plan, organize and supervise a community service project. Mason chose to work with the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry to design and build portable sorting and storage tables which will improve their processes.

In addition to the Eagle award, Mason was presented commendations from state Rep. Michele Mussman and Hoffman Estates Mayor William D. McLeod who proclaimed April 7 as “Mason Wang Day” in Hoffman Estates.

In his comments, Mason said, “I will be forever grateful for my Scouting career and what it has given me. I have learned so many lessons on my journey to Eagle; lessons I wouldn’t have learned anywhere else. I’ve met amazing people, gone on fantastic adventures and done some unbelievable things through Scouting.”

During his time in the Troop, Mason served as assistant senior patrol leader and was elected to the senior patrol leader position. He is a student at Hoffman Estates High School.

Mason is the 99th scout to achieve the rank of Eagle with Troop 399. The Troop is currently reaching out attempting to contact as many of their Eagle Alumni as they can locate. They are putting together a Memorial Album.
