Sheriff: Streamwood man accused of having child sexual abuse materials
A Streamwood man has been charged with possession of child pornography, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Tuesday.
Jose Hidrogo, 30, was arrested Monday after sexually explicit files of children under the age of 13 were discovered on his phone, according to a news release. He was charged with one count of possession of child pornography, which is a felony.
The investigation began after the Sheriff's Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that there were explicit photos and videos saved on a cloud storage app tied to Hidrogo, authorities said.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the account and confirmed there were child sexual abuse materials on the device, officials said. When police interviewed Hidrogo on July 9, he confirmed the phone — which forensic analysis revealed about 100 images and 40 videos — belonged to him, the release said.
Hidrogo appeared Tuesday at the Rolling Meadows courthouse for his initial court hearing on the charge, and he was ordered detained pending trial.
