Fire damages Streamwood home; Residents escape unharmed
A late-night fire Tuesday caused an estimated $75,000 damage to a Streamwood home, but its residents escaped without injury, authorities said.
Streamwood Fire Department officials said firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 10:52 p.m. in the 100 block of Grey Fox Court. They arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the two-story home, officials said.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the outside with a hose line then finished extinguishing the fire from the inside, according to the fire department.
The fire appears to have started outside, adjacent to the back of the home, officials said. The Streamwood Fire Investigation Team remained on the scene Wednesday working to determine the cause of the blaze.
In addition to Streamwood firefighters, crews from Bartlett, East Dundee, Hanover Park, Hanover Township, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg assisted at the scene. Barrington and South Elgin fire personnel handled other calls for Streamwood during the incident.
