La Fox post office employee tackles man, thwarts robbery
Authorities are searching for a man who tried to rob the La Fox post office Thursday only to be thwarted when he was tackled by the employee he intended to mug, officials said.
Kane County sheriff's deputies were called at 10:09 a.m. to the post office on 1N279 La Fox Road for a report of an attempted armed robbery.
According to the sheriff's office, a 5-foot, 9-inch, 220-pound man whose ethnicity is unknown entered the post office wearing mostly black, including a ski mask and gray gloves, displayed a handgun and demanded money from an employee.
The woman tackled the suspect before he got any money and the man ran from the building, authorities said.
Deputies and police dogs searched the area but did not find the man; the employee was not injured.
The sheriff's office is working with postal inspectors in the investigation and anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (630) 444-1103.
