Missionary from Africa visits Shepherd of the Prairie in Huntley
Daudi (David) Msseemmaa, one of the missionaries Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church helps sponsor in Africa, recently took part in services on Sunday, July 21, at the Huntley church.
“Our missionary from Tanzania, Daudi (David) Msseemmaa, who is visiting the U.S. this summer, was our very special guest in worship,” said Pastor Mark Boster, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. “He serves as the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Regional Representative to Tanzania which is one of the missionaries we help sponsor in Africa. His inspiring words tied in the message on how our support truly makes a difference in helping others.”
As currently planned, every two years Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Missionaries are scheduled to visit their sponsoring congregations in the U.S.
Msseemmaa was raised in Northern Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University.
His wife, Kellen, was raised in Uganda and graduated from Uganda University. She is the founder of Empowered Girls, a nonprofit that empowers girls in Africa, who are marginalized by culture, tradition and systems which pose so many challenges, obstacles, hindrances and boundaries to them living their dreams and full potential.
The Msseemmaa’s are the ELCA Regional Representatives for East Africa. Coordinating and leading charitable works of missionaries in this part of Africa is a large part of their work.
Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Mark Boster and Pastor Rev. Ryan Mackey, has served the Huntley community for over 20 years. Visit www.sotp.org.
