Palatine Township Back to School Supplies Program celebrates 36th year
Palatine Township Back to School Supplies Program launched its 36th year with the support of the community at the Hometown Fest parade on Saturday, July 6. The program is designed to help children and their families prepare for the upcoming school year with the necessary school supplies. The success of this program is a testament to the overwhelming support and generous donations from the community.
Palatine Township Outreach Department handed out 1,100 backpacks to registered students living within the township. When students came to pick up their backpacks, Palatine Township had a day full of activities where students took pictures with their new backpacks, got their hair done and enjoyed ice cream while parents visited vendors offering useful resources.
As a way to kick off the new Vital Records Pilot Program, the Cook County Clerk’s Vital Records staff was on-site July 30, to print copies of birth certificates, as many students need them for school and sports. Community members who would like learn more about the Vital Records Pilot Program can go to the township’s website or visit the Palatine Township Center.
Palatine Township is the main source of humanitarian aid in the community. The township provides numerous services and events for its 114,000 residents and supports 29 social service agencies located within its boundaries. The township is one of the most heavily populated in Illinois, with a goal to enhance and improve the quality of life for all of its residents.
