On Cold War vets
I have read several letters concerning the lack of recognition of those who served in the military during the "Cold War.” This is the period between Sept. 2, 1945, and Dec. 26, 1991. While I agree there should be a more formal government recognition of this service, until that day happens, there is an alternative. The U.S. Army currently runs the program for all services and members who served during the Cold War period and will issue a certificate recognizing a veteran’s service during the Cold War. Go to this wesite for details on how to obtain the certificate: www.hrc.army.mil or simply Google “Cold War Certificate.”
