Gurnee Days returns Aug. 10-11

Gurnee Days festival grounds open a noon Saturday, Aug. 10, at Viking Park, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Enjoy a kids zone sponsored by Great Wolf Lodge, as well as the Gurnee Exchange Club’s Rib Fest and Rib Eating Contest, live music, food vendors and more. Back this year, check out the Community Art Show in Viking Park’s Dance Hall and vendor booths from local Gurnee and Lake County businesses. Both the art show and vendor booths will be open on Saturday until 7 p.m.

New for Saturday, Gurnee Days will partner with the Gurnee Chamber of Commerce for Adult Bingo from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The new Teen Vibe Zone will include dodgeball from 5-7 p.m. as well as a teen tent with music and small board games. In addition, the Gurnee Days Bags Tournament, courtesy of McCullough Kubota, is back on Saturday. Teams must register in advance to compete.

Live music starts on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. with No Limit, and Hello Weekend will perform from 8-10:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9 p.m.

Sunday, the Gurnee Days traditions continue with the Gurnee Days Car Show at 9 a.m., followed by the Gurnee Days Parade at noon. Leading the parade will be this year’s honoree, Amy Blair. After the parade, enjoy the car show, children's activities and food, the beer garden, and FitNation’s Sports Lounge. Sparks Fly: Taylor Swift Tribute Band will perform on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Gurnee Days will partner with the Gurnee Farmers Market at Saratoga Square. The market will be moving from Saratoga Square to Gurnee Days festival grounds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests can park and walk to the festival from Viking Middle School, Warren High School O’Plaine Campus as well as Gurnee Community Church. There is also limited parking on festival grounds.
