Antioch Township blaze leaves woman homeless
A house fire in Antioch Township early Sunday morning has left a woman homeless, authorities said.
Antioch Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Lienhardt said the woman was treated at an area hospital, but the extent of her injuries was unknown.
She was able to escape the house before firefighters arrived, Lienhardt said Monday.
The fire took place in the 23000 block of Lakeshore Drive at 2:34 a.m., Lienhardt said.
There weren’t any fire hydrants near the house, so the fire department requested water tankers from several nearby departments, including Lake Villa, Bristol, Wis., Fox Lake and Spring Grove.
Using that water, crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes, Lienhardt said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
