Carol Stream’s Community Park debuts renovations

The Carol Stream Park District will hold a reopening for its renovated Community Park, 725 Thornhill Drive, at 6 p.m. Aug. 26.

Designed to appeal to residents of all ages and interests, renovated features include a full-size basketball court, community gardens with 20 ADA-accessible planter boxes, a zip line, and a “ninja course.”

Also among the improvements are two regraded soccer fields, a sand volleyball court and a turf futsal court, three picnic shelters, an updated playground structure, a swale with native vegetation, improved restroom facilities, and expanded parking.

The Community Park renovation came about through the park district board, a DuPage County Community Development block grant, and a land donation by the village of Carol Stream.
